Becoming a Trust Horse

I have a horse for the trust, now what?

If you have a standardbred that you would like us to rehome, please get in touch… We believe every horse deserves it’s day and a chance however, we can not take in injured or dangerous horses.

We aim to assess any sound horse offered and we will tell you whether we can enter your horse into the programme.

Please complete a Request for Assessment and one of our team will be in touch.

What does it cost?

We are a charitable trust. Ideally your horse would come with a donation. As we are a registered Charity, so cash donations can claim tax credits.

Horses need to be transported to our facility in North Canterbury once they have been assessed and accepted into the programme. From there, it’s over to us.

Why us?

As a Charitable Trust all our procedures and finances are open to the public. Just ask.

We have a highly skilled team from trainers, volunteers and board members who are passionate about making the best out of every horse.

All horses accepted into the trust are given an individual assessment and programme to work through, each horse gets body work and the right training for their needs. No one plan fits all and our programme takes longer than most other rehoming programmes.

We have strict processes around rehoming. Prospective owners are vetted for suitability and skills. We require riding assessments, completed forms based on their experience, word of mouth verification and a property inspection.

New owners become part of our Stable to Stirrup community, we are here to support new homes and help through education and communication.

If this sounds like the right fit for your horse, then get in touch.
