Grazing & Feed
When horses first retire from the racetrack they are likely to have been on a special hard feed as part of their diet. Funding helps cover the cost of grazing, hay and feed for those horses while they are in Stable to Stirrup care.
Health Care
Horses require regular maintenance health care checks just as humans do. We help cover the costs of dental work, feet trimming and shoeing, worming and other required treatments while the horses are in our care.
Training & Evaluating
To find out if a retired racehorse will be rideable and safe for a new owner, a trained and qualified equine professional must first evaluate it. Once accepted, the horse will need training and ongoing tuition as a riding horse. The costs involved differ for every horse and every trainer. Stable to Stirrup helps pay for these services.
